C-SCAN

NON-CONTACT capacitive profile measurement C-CAN for barrier films on blown film lines.

For technical reasons, it is not possible to measure barrier films with EVOH and/or PA on a blown film line directly behind the bubble cage with a rotating scanner device. The reason is the bad influence on the accuracy of the barrier materials at high temperatures.

PLAST-CONTROL has developed the C-SCAN for the thickness measurement of barrier films on blown film lines. The C-SCAN combines all advantages of capacitive measuring devices: Precise and reliable non-contact measurement at a competitive price. With our C-SCAN we measure after the film is cooled down, as it is already transported in the layflat position.

The C-SCAN is mounted behind the folding frame and measures the tubular film on its way down to the winder. After 7 fast cycles the first complete profile of the film (360°) is measured and can be displayed or transmitted to an automatic gauge control system.

The non-contact capacitive profile measuring head C-SCAN is designed for the measurement of PE films with sticky surfaces or films where optical quality is the main concern.

It can also be used on casting or sheet extrusion lines.
